Dr. Paari Vijayaragavan was born and raised in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. His parents, both doctors, are busy practitioners in Coimbatore, very well known for their benevolent practice of medicine and service for the poor. He heavily invested in making his dream of an ethical, transparent world-class HPB and liver/kidney transplantation facility to be available in the Kongu region of Tamil Nadu.
With his parents as the inspiration, Dr. Paari had decided early on in his school days to become a doctor and a surgeon in particular. With that goal, he continued to excel in academics in his school days and ended up being a state ranker in Science in 1991 in his high school board exams and school topper in 1993 in his higher secondary school board exams. He was an avid quizzer too and won trophies too in quiz competitions at various levels.
